This was originally to be the stock rear tire size for RS660 and Tuono 660 as indicated in this Official Spare Parts catalog exerpt, however supply chain issues during production led Aprilia to use the more readily available 180/55-17 instead.

Pirelli's Diablo Rosso IV series of tire is the second generation of the popular Rosso road tire line.  The new Rosso IV offers bi-compound construction that combines long lasting mileage with excellent grip at full lean. Pirelli Enhanced Patch Technology (EPT) optimizes the contact patch via experiences gained in the World Superbike and SuperSport championships.

For a do it all road tire with the possiblity for occasional track or aggressive riding, the Rosso IV will be the best choice.
